Reality

1. 90 minutes.
2. Open Book (Berkeley, Taylor, Descartes readings and handouts) but no notes.
3. Online Students will write at the ASC, HU Library, Regional Site, or other Dr. Schmidt-approved proctor. May use computer if available!
4. ALL STUDENTS WRITING AT ASC OR WITH PROCTOR MUST SHOW ID.

Many people and cultures hold differing views on the nature of reality. Explain three basic positions one can take on this issue (Berkeley, Taylor, Descartes). What arguments do they give for their positions?

What might be some important personal and cultural consequences of viewing reality that way (in other words, what might societies based on these metaphysical views look like)?

What position do YOU hold? Why? How do your views compare and contrast with the other positions?
