Week 2: Types of Qualitative Research. Pick up reading at "Qualitative Data" section of Research Design text and continue into "Qualitative Approaches."
Week 3: Continue reading "Qualitative Approaches" section of text and continue into "Qualitative Methods."
Week 4: Reliability and Validity in Qualitative Research. Read "Qualitative Validity" sections of text.
Week 5: Experimental Design (Observation). Read Labov and Waletsky, "Narrative Analysis."
Week 6: Experimental Design (Interviewing). Read Schegloff, "'Narrative Analysis': Twenty Years Later" and Holmes, "Narrative Structure: Some Contrasts Between Maori and Pakeha Story-telling."
Week 7: Group Research Project Sharing and Analysis. Post results of your observation in Forum PRIOR to class (2/19).
Week 8: Designing Our Qualitative Research Project: Release Forms, Recordings, and Transcriptions.
Week 9: Group Field Research Project. Data Analysis. Post Transcripts by 3/16,
Week 10: Group Field Research Project: Continue Data Analysis.
Week 11: Group Field Research Project: Continue Data Analysis.
Week 12: Group Field Research Project: Continue Data Analysis. Assign Tasks for Presentation and Publication.
Week 13: Prepare for Presentations and Publication.
